Ed is highly in demand as a creative workshop leader, both as an individual and through Blues & Roots Ensemble. Ed is also widely experienced in working with youth orchestras and chamber orchestras as a conductor and strings/double bass sectional coach, as well as working at the Creative Lead on National Children’s Orchestra residential courses.

Ed offers one to one lessons online or in-person on double bass, bass guitar & flute.

Ed’s teaching experience started as young as 18 while working as a music assistant at Trinity Grammar School in Melbourne, through volunteering in Yorkshire schools during his undergraduate studies at the University of Leeds and resulting in a Masters in Music Education and Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Ed held position of Head of Strings for Merton Music Foundation for 7 years and was a founding partner of Be Creative Music group, before establishing his own charity - Blues and Roots Ensemble in 2017.

As a one to one teacher Ed prides himself on his holistic approach to learning, and on finding new and inventive ways for students to enjoy and benefit from his sessions. Ed creates a bespoke programme of study for each student & enjoys creating music alongside pupils - whether improvising or composing in lessons, or playing alongside each other in rehearsals and performances.
